Leeds player says he’s over the moon despite West Ham loss
Charlie Cresswell has admitted that he was over the moon to make his Premier League debut in front of a packed Elland Road as Leeds United faced West Ham – .
What’s the story?
Cresswell has enjoyed what looks set to be a pivotal week in his career. He actually made his Leeds debut last season in a Carabao Cup defeat to Hull.

But he had not added to that tally before facing Fulham in the same competition this week.
However, with Leeds dealing with an injury crisis at the back, Marcelo Bielsa named him in the starting lineup at Craven Cottage.
And he went on to take the opportunity with both hands. Plenty of fans insisted that he was the star of the show as the Whites went through on penalties.

Bielsa rewarded him with a Premier League bow against the Hammers. And while it proved to be another frustrating day for the Whites, Cresswell, once again, produced an assured display.
Following the game, the defender insisted that he got the chance to realise a dream by being involved.
“I’ve been here since I was 11 and I’ve always dreamed of walking out in front of a packed Elland Road,” he said, . “I can’t explain what it feels like to be honest, because when you’re out there, the crowd helps you so much.
“When you lack energy in the last few minutes, they give you that extra push. And honestly, I’m over the moon, I’m speechless to be honest.”
Cresswell a shining light in difficult period for Leeds
It has been a tough start to the season for Leeds. Bielsa’s men are still waiting for their first win of the season in the top-flight.
But there have been positives. They were superb at times against West Ham.
And this difficult period has allowed the likes of Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton to show or remind everyone what they can do.
The 19-year-old has now shown that he definitely belongs in the first-team squad. His challenge now will be to stake his claim when Bielsa has more options to pick from.
