Leeds player may rue January exit after Ryan Edmondson injury

It may have caught a few Leeds United supporters by surprise when it was announced in the final hours of the January transfer window that Kun Temenuzhkov had left Elland Road on loan for the rest of the season.

However, the 20-year-old was given the green light to return to Spain. He has joined La Nucia in the country’s third tier.

Given that no player loaned out under Marcelo Bielsa has made an appearance upon their return to Leeds, it looks to be an ominous sign for Temenuzhkov.

And perhaps he has already been given reason to potentially rue the decision to leave the club following an announcement that Leeds made this week.

on Monday that Ryan Edmondson will miss the next 12 weeks after undergoing knee surgery.

Of course, other factors could be behind Temenuzhkov’s move. And it may have been that he would not have benefitted from Edmondson’s injury had he stayed anyway.

But perhaps there is a chance that the former Barcelona trainee would have become the main man up front for Leeds’s under-23s had he stuck around.

And if he found himself in that position, he may have been in the right place at the perfect time had Bielsa needed to promote a forward at any stage.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Temenuzhkov. But if his sights are still set on making the grade at Leeds, he may be cursing his luck for leaving in January.
