Leeds move for Abel Hernandez would lay down marker, could coax further signings

Leeds United are reportedly encoring previous interest with an audacious move for Hull City striker Abel Hernandez,  and are hoping a deal can be thrashed out over the coming days.

Marcelo Bielsa is likely to sign off on negotiations dating weeks back, with the Championship outfit confident of securing the player’s signature, despite interest from the likes of the recently promoted Cardiff and Serie A outfit Cagliari.

And the deal would lay down a serious marker at Elland Road, and could act as a catalyst for further business this summer.

The club have revived hope among fans with the shrewd appointment of Bielsa, and bringing in a proven goal-scorer – with eight goals and two assists in 10 appearances last season – would really show intent to go above and beyond next term.

The 27-year-old’s presence at the club would turn the heads of players and agents alike, to see that the prospect of joining Leeds is an attractive one. It suggests a project is underway, and top quality players often need to see ambition to get on-board with moves to so called ‘lesser competitions’.

Not only that but football has become a business nowadays, and the reported wages offered to the Uruguayan international will also garner attention from players.
