Leeds managing director Angus Kinnear insists season should be completed
Leeds United chief Angus Kinnear has firmly insisted that the current domestic season should be completed as usual whenever it’s safe to return to action.
Kinnear, who is the Whites managing director, believes that the current campaign needs to be played out in full and is against any suggestion of cutting it short.
With football in England currently suspended at least until April, there have been suggestions made about how the divisions could end if the break is extended over the next few months due to the coronavirus outbreak and if it runs into the summer.
Leeds currently sit top of the Championship table, but there are still nine games left to play in the league season and all action in currently at a halt.
“I think the broad principle is that you maintain the integrity of the competitions and when the time comes and it is safe to do so, you finish the leagues,”
“I think everybody is starting to feel this is the right thing to do and it is certainly our opinion, we think it maintains the integrity of the Football League pyramid and the competitions.
“We would like our supporters to be able to witness the rest of the season with us and by playing the games, it also helps the clubs financially, particularly further down the pyramid.”

TBR’s View:
Football clubs up and down the country have to be patient while waiting to here the time needed away matches, with health and safety understandably the focus right now.
Leeds are one of the teams in an interesting position though and some supporters are already concerned about what would happen to them if the suspended for months.
There are many who feel the campaign should resume at the first opportunity, with teams in the football ladder chasing promotion or titles.
But perhaps some battling relegation may be more in favour of a cancellation and there are plenty of questions that may still not be answered for a while.
