Club president open to selling reported Leeds target, he’s a ‘big hitter’

Leeds United are reportedly eyeing Nahitan Nandez, a player who has been compared to Saul Niguez.

And it looks as though the Whites have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Cagliari midfielder.

Tommaso Giulini, the president of the club, appears open to selling Nandez amid links with the Elland Road outfit.

He played down reports claiming Leeds were on the verge of completing a deal for Nandez, however.

Italian newspaper recently claimed Victor Orta was flying to Sardinia to strike a deal for the 25-year-old.

Speaking to , Giulini said: “There are no concrete offers for Nahitan. The truth is no club has contacted us.

“Not selling a big hitter could penalise us but, at the same time, it strengthens us from a technical point of view.

“Obviously, such a sale would help our balance sheet.

“At this time, it would be ideal to make money but we must also be creative by studying other formulas.”

claimed in June that Nandez has a 36m euro (£31m) release clause.

Nandez: A Bielsa-type player compared to midfield greats

Nandez very much fits the bill as a Marcelo Bielsa type player.

He is versatile, able to play at no. 10, no. 8 and even no. 6, where he could cover for Kalvin Phillips.

In addition, Nandez has played at right-back for Uruguay, which is another area Leeds could do with bolstering.

And over the years, fans have compared him to the likes of Saul Niguez, Juan Mata and Nicolo Barella.
