Leeds have got to elbow Celtic aside after reported offer for Guardiola outcast – TBR View
Celtic have reportedly made an offer to sign Manchester City outcast Patrick Roberts this summer as the winger continues to remain surplus to requirements under Pep Guardiola – but Leeds United have got to rival the Scottish champions.
Roberts, 23, is currently on loan at Jonathan Woodgate’s Middlesbrough side from Manchester City after joining the club in January – following a disappointing spell at Norwich City during the first half of the campaign.
The England Under-20 international’s future looked exciting after seven trophies in 78 appearances during two and a half years on loan at Celtic. But he has failed to make a senior City appearance since leaving the Hoops in 2018.
Now, Celtic want him back and the Hoops have made an offer worth £3million to sign Roberts. Though City have initially rejected the offer, it is believed Celtic have left the bid on the table, in case City change their minds.

That gives clubs the chance to overrule Celtic and elbow Neil Lennon’s club aside. Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa have got to seriously consider doing so, by upping Celtic’s offer and stealing in to land the twinkle-toed wide man.
Leeds do have options out wide but Jack Harrison is only on loan from Manchester City and although a permanent deal is achievable, nothing has been confirmed. Pablo Hernandez is beginning to impress in more of a central role.
Helder Costa has not lived up to his £15million price tag, while Gjanni Alioski is preferred at left-back. A winger is required, and Roberts would be a top addition for Leeds if not only to add cover at what seems a cheap fee.
