‘Leeds have been after him’: Pundit raves about ‘outstanding’ £15m title winner

Leeds United are apparently still interested in Rangers star Ryan Kent, according to Ibrox legend Brian Laudrup.

The Whites were eyeing the 24-year-old last summer in wake of their Premier League promotion.

Rangers had also fallen short in the Scottish Premiership last year as Celtic won their ninth title in a row.

However, Kent stayed put and helped the Gers finally overcome their Glasgow rivals to the title.

reported back in April that Leeds were looking to make a £15million offer for the Englishman.

With the summer transfer window on the horizon, the Kent saga could well carry on in the coming months.

Laudrup, speaking to the podcast, made it clear that Rangers need to keep Kent.

“If there’s one player where I would say ‘keep him at all costs’ it would be Ryan Kent,” he said.

“Leeds have been after him for at least a year or two now and he’s the kind of player you pay to watch.

“He’s the kind of players who can turn a dull game into a spectucalr one

“He opens up defences and you need players like that, not only in Scotland but in Europe as well.

“He’s still got potential, he’s not there yet, I think in a year or two he’ll be even better.

“For me, he’s the outstanding prospect.

“I think in a year or two Ryan Kent will find stability in his game.

“When you’re a player who always has to do the exceptional, who has to create and take players on, there are games where you’re not capable of that.

“I’m sure he will thrive next season at Rangers, not only in Scotland but hopefully on the biggest stage as well, the Champions League.”

Leeds have a mission on their hands – TBR View

Kent is superb attacker who put a fairly average 2019-20 campaign behind him to get back to his best.

His efforts have been crucial in stopping Celtic’s 10 in a row and helping Rangers win their 55th title.

Kent still has so much to offer Rangers, and they will not let him go without a fight.

However, if Leeds stump up a significant amount cash, could they be tempted to cash in?

Kent would certainly light up the Premier League, and if he can do it at Elland Road, all the better.
