Leeds fans surprised by Robbie Gotts loan move to Lincoln
Robbie Gotts completed a move on Thursday to join Lincoln City – and some Leeds United fans on Twitter have responded with real surprise that their youngster has dropped down to League One.
The 20-year-old is a rising talent to come through the academy at the Whites and he’s had a taste of first-team action at Elland Road by making three senior appearances, but he’s now going to pursue regular minutes elsewhere.
He is a central midfielder that has dropped down to the third-tier of English football to link up with Lincoln, who sit second in the League One table after the opening five games and they are expected to be one of the teams pushing hard for promotion.
He is the latest player to depart Elland Road on loan and there is still time for more to follow on today’s deadline day, which shuts at 5pm.
Gotts has joined Lincoln for the entire 2020/21 season and Leeds are going to be keeping a close eye on how he develops, as he’s been highly-rated in recent years at Thorp Arch.
Marcelo Bielsa has a number of options in the centre of the park within his first-team squad and 21-year-old academy graduate Jamie Shackleton is fully integrated to the main group, so it makes sense to give Gotts the opportunity to develop in a lower league.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media are thrilled to see their youngster to get the chance out on loan, but have admitted they are shocked to see him drop down to League One rather than link up with a Championship team.
He’s not looked out of place when given brief chances in the Leeds first-team and fans are expecting him to light up League One.
Here are some Whites supporters discussing the Gotts transfer:
