Leeds fans react to Spurs loanee Jack Clarke’s U23 display

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jack Clarke’s performance after the Tottenham Hotspur loanee helped the Whites’ under-23s to a 5-1 win over Bolton on Monday.

It was no surprise to see Clarke named in the side to face the Trotters. The winger has only made one Championship appearance this season. It looks to be a safe bet to assume that he will be recalled by Spurs in January.

But he has staked a claim for more minutes under Marcelo Bielsa. The 19-year-old was outstanding as Leeds’s youngsters cruised to an emphatic victory.

He played a key role in three of the goals, and also found the back of the net himself. It was his cross that led to Gjanni Alioski bagging the opener during the first-half.

Clarke produced a smart finish to double Leeds’s lead, with Alioski providing the assist. The second-half evoked further memories of the player Whites fans saw at the midway point of last season.

Clarke was superb when running with the ball. He set up Robbie Gotts for the visitors’ fourth goal, and another run led to Eddie Nketiah completing the rout.

It would be a surprise to see Clarke feature too often in the coming weeks. But he has certainly put pressure on the likes of Jack Harrison and Helder Costa with his performance.

And there are plenty of Leeds fans who believe that the Spurs loanee deserves another chance to show what he can do for the first-team.

When the youngster is at his best, there are arguably few players in the Championship who can be as exciting. And some supporters clearly feel that Bielsa will not regret it if he gives the teenager some game-time in the near future.
