Leeds fans react to Ryan Edmondson’s display in U23 win

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to implore Marcelo Bielsa to promote Ryan Edmondson to the first-team after he bagged a brace for the under-23s in their 5-0 win over Hull City on Sunday.

The striker situation is one that Leeds are going to need to address this month. Eddie Nketiah’s loan has been terminated, leaving Patrick Bamford as the one natural striker amongst the senior squad.

Tyler Roberts can also play up front, while Bielsa may also be tempted by the likes of Jack Harrison and Helder Costa if required. But some of the fans want another name added to Bielsa’s list of options.

Edmondson bagged his seventh and eighth goals of the season on Sunday. Both saw the 18-year-old finish from inside the six-yard box as he got onto the end of crosses.

And that ability to get into the right positions at the right time has led plenty of supporters to suggest that he could make a difference for the first-team.

It is clear that some are actually frustrated Edmondson has not played more for Bielsa.

The teenager made just one appearance for the first-team last season in all competitions. And he is yet to feature this year.

He certainly seems to be doing all he can to stake a claim when he plays for the under-23s. So it will be interesting to see how Leeds approach the next few weeks while the transfer window is open.

Here is what some of the supporters made of Edmondson’s display…
