Leeds fans react to Jamie Shackleton’s performance in Aston Villa win

Leeds United produced an excellent performance to beat Aston Villa on Friday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter singled out midfielder Jamie Shackleton for massive credit after his performance.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side earned three points in the Premier League with a 3-0 away victory and it was very much the Patrick Bamford show in the second-half.

The Whites centre-forward scored a 19-minute hat-trick during the second period, with the first coming in the 55th minute with a close-range finish that he couldn’t miss.

His next two goals were stunning efforts that he curled into the top corner both with his left foot and he’s continued his incredible start to the top-flight campaign.

Despite the fact Villa had won their opening four games of the season, Leeds thoroughly deserved the win and it temporarily takes them up to third in the Premier League table ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

Aside from the Bamford heroics, a selection of Leeds supporters on social media felt that Shackleton was a standout player on the pitch that deserved a mention.

The central midfielder started the league contest on the bench, but was thrown into the action after just 21 minutes when Bielsa decided to substitute Pascal Struijk off when he was on a yellow card.

Shackleton certainly took his opportunity, as he provided so much energy in the centre of the park and was busy in both halves.

The 21-year-old looks like he could be set for more first-team minutes if his performance is anything to go by and there is an opportunity now that England international Kalvin Phillips is currently sidelined through injury.

Here are some Whites fans discussing Shackleton:
