Leeds fans react to Jamie Shackleton display vs West Ham
A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jamie Shackleton after the Whites’ Premier League clash with West Ham on Saturday.
What’s the story?
Somehow, Marcelo Bielsa’s side are still waiting for their first league win of the campaign. They were beaten 2-1 at Elland Road with the Hammers scoring in the final minutes of the contest.

The result would have felt like a punch in the gut for several reasons. Of course, the timing of the winner made it all the more brutal.
But it also came after a superb first-half display from Leeds. And they, once again, had the chances to kill off the game before West Ham came back into it.
A number of players were outstanding against David Moyes’s side. And one of those who has been lauded by the fans is Shackleton.

The 21-year-old started at right-back with Luke Ayling missing out due to the injury he suffered at Newcastle.
And he arguably went on to stake a genuine claim for a more prominent role in that position with his display.
, he boasted the best pass-completion of any starter. Remarkably, only Charlie Cresswell and Liam Cooper completed more passes as well.
Shackleton has been knocking on the first-team for some time. He must have wondered whether that chance would ever happen for him.
‘Superb today’: Leeds fans laud Jamie Shackleton after West Ham clash
It remains to be seen if he will keep his place for the absolutely massive clash with Watford next weekend.
But it is clear that plenty of supporters would be disappointed if he missed out against the Hornets.
With that in mind, here is how some of the fans reacted to his display…
Doom and gloom amongst some Leeds fans last night. Unlucky not to get a deserved point v West Ham. A much better performance for an hour. Double deflected goal and an injury time winner from a player who could have been given a red. Cresswell and Shackleton real positives

Shackleton, Cresswell & Rodrigo superb today.
Substitutions didn’t improve us.
Many positives from today, hopefully Bielsa persists with the kids. They’re ready now.
Watford game now all about the result, this is now HUGE.
Ups n downs

Man of the match for me….although Shackleton and Cresswell were immense. Could already give Meslier player of the season!

For me even if some players return from injury Charlie Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton keep their places for the game next Saturday. Both were exceptional today

Cresswell and Shackleton were brilliant today! Gutted with the loss but very impressed with the two lads!

Meslier, Shackleton, Cresswell, Cooper, Kalvin, Rapha were all amazing today!

Shackleton is the real deal. 100%. Cresswell is as well. Next five games we’ll smash it.

Lot of talk (and rightfully so) about Cresswell, but I thought Shackleton was immense today.
