Leeds fans react on Twitter to Sam Greenwood’s under-23s goal

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to laud Sam Greenwood after the youngster bagged his 10th goal of the season for the under-23s on Monday.

Greenwood’s form this season was acknowledged by Marcelo Bielsa at the weekend. The 19-year-old was included on the first-team bench for the first time in a Premier League game on Sunday.

He did not get on the field, but it is certainly a landmark for the teenager. And he did not have to wait too long for the next achievement.

Greenwood scored the opening goal in the under-23s’ clash with Fulham this week. It was an outstanding finish and it took the striker into double figures in Premier League 2 this season.

Unfortunately for Mark Jackson’s men, they were unable to get the win. But Greenwood certainly managed to impress the supporters with his performance before he was taken off at the break.

As well as the goal, Greenwood produced a number of superb touches. He also made one outrageous run that nearly led to Crysencio Summerville being played in.

Several fans have suggested that the time has come for Greenwood to get a chance in the top flight.

He made his senior debut in the FA Cup in January. And some fans hope that he gets the opportunity to add to that tally before the campaign concludes.
