Leeds fans react on Twitter to Robbie Gotts’s under-23 display
A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to laud Robbie Gotts after the youngster’s performance in under-23s’ sensational 6-0 win over Watford on Monday.
The Whites thrashed the Hornets at Elland Road, with three goals coming in each half. Pascal Struijk broke the deadlock before Eddie Nketiah added to his first-team goal at the weekend with a penalty.

It was Nketiah who bagged Leeds’s third. But it was Gotts who set the goal up with a stunning cross. The 19-year-old curled a delicious ball in towards the back post and the striker volleyed home just before the break.
Tyler Roberts also bagged a penalty after the break. And then it was Gotts’s turn to get on the scoresheet.

Leeds made a nice move down the right flank, and that allowed Luke Ayling to lay the ball into Gotts, who showed his composure to find the bottom corner. It was Ayling who added a sixth.
Unsurprisingly, there were a number of performances that caught the eye. But plenty of supporters felt that Gotts was the star of the show.
The midfielder was excellent on the ball, and timed a number of challenges absolutely perfectly. It was a display that showed exactly why Marcelo Bielsa has included the youngster on the first-team bench on so many occasions during his tenure.
And based on his performance against Watford, it appears to be a matter of time before he gets to make that senior debut for the Whites. One fan even suggested that they were reminded of Lee Bowyer.
Here is what some of the supporters were saying about Gotts’s display…
u23’s were a bit good. Gotts and Mckinstry were outstanding.

Gotts my mom tbh, but a brilliant team effort all round.

Gotts pick of quite an excellent bunch of performances tonight. Mckinstry looks good. If he’s that good now at 16 he might make an impact deep in the season

How good was that? Yes we had 6 first teamers but Casey, Pasc, McKinstry, Gotts all first class. Loved every minute of that, onto Friday against Hull.
— Thomas Hill (@Hilly15)

Really good performance tonight from CCs U23s. Gotts was excellent but entire 14 were good & could have had 8 or 9. Stuart McKinstry was impressive.Hard to believe he’s just 16. Good comeback from Roberts & Ayling so all good
— Marc F ?? (@billywigwam13)
That was a pretty fantastic 90 minutes. Gotts really impressive, Roberts’ movement (if not his finishing) was superb, Davis still looks to me like our best long-term bet at left back and McKinstry looks every bit as exciting as Clarke did this time last year.

Must have been impressed by Gotts

Watched the U23’s tonight brilliant performance great to see Ayling and Roberts back on the pitch and so much talent with the youngsters who will support the 1st 11 this year Gotts and Davies are seriously good imo
— Shaun Wilkinson (@wilko3522)
6-0 and even Ayling bags one. Gotts my MOTM – reminds me of Lee Bowyer, just everywhere.
