Leeds fans react on Twitter to Ian Poveda’s display

A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Ian Poveda’s display as the Whites were knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side capitulated during the second-half to lose 3-0 against Crawley. They had produced some promising football during the first-half, but were punished after the break.

The starting lineup included a number of players who tend to make up the bench most weeks in the Premier League – with Poveda one of those to be promoted.

It was only the winger’s third start for the Whites. And he seemed to be the one player who emerged from the contest with any sort of credit on social media.

Understandably, there was a lot of anger and frustration directed at the performance. And it would probably be fair to say that some did not understand the decision to take Poveda off.

The 20-year-old produced some moments of outrageous skill and made some brilliant runs during the first-half. There was also a sublime nutmeg which created an opening for the visitors.

‘Best on the pitch’

It was not a day that Leeds fans will want to remember by any means. But plenty of fans have suggested that Poveda – who earns £8,800-a-week, – was a shining light on one of the most disappointing afternoons of Bielsa’s tenure.

Here is how some of the fans have reacted to Poveda’s display…
