Leeds fans react on Twitter as Jamie Shackleton signs new contract

Leeds United continued a busy week by making a further announcement on Wednesday that Jamie Shackleton has signed a new contract at Elland Road.

The Whites have already confirmed the signings of Jack Harrison, Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Allen in recent days. And they followed that hat-trick of announcements by revealing that Mateusz Bogusz had committed his future to the club by penning fresh terms.

that Shackleton has signed a new four-year deal with the Championship title-winners.

Shackleton is an incredibly popular player amongst the fans. He has impressed on almost every occasion he has featured for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Initially, Bielsa tended to use the 20-year-old at right-back. But he has more recently been involved in his more natural position in midfield.

And he vindicated Bielsa’s faith in the final two games of the season. He scored two well-taken goals in the wins over Derby County and Charlton Athletic to round off the campaign.

And plenty of supporters will be hoping to see Shackleton play an important role in the Premier League. Many took to social media following the announcement to express their delight at the youngster signing a long-term contract.

Plenty are optimistic that he has an incredibly bright future ahead. So there is a lot of excitement that he looks set to stay for some time.
