Leeds fans react as video emerges of Illan Meslier shining in training ahead of Friday clash
Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier continues to earn rave reviews for his performances in a Leeds shirt and a short clip on Twitter has prompted enormous reaction from supporters, with many stunned by just how potential he has.
Still only 20, £16,500-a-week () Meslier has emerged as one of the signings of the Premier League summer at a bargain £5million. Keeping four clean sheets in 11 league games, he has been pivotal to Leeds’ eye-catching start to life in the top tier.
Meslier has only played 22 times for Leeds at a senior level – though for Leeds fans, he is already a fan favourite. Saves to deny the likes of Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka, Abdoulaye Doucoure and even his double save from Timo Werner have wowed fans.
The stopper is expected to start again on Friday night and is clearly preparing in excellent fashion, as he was put his through his paces by Marcos Abad. The short clip, from a Leeds training video on the club’s site, sees him make numerous excellent saves.

Meslier will have to be at the top of his game come Friday night with West Ham in good form. Prior to Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United, West Ham had won three games in a row – all 1-0. David Moyes has them solid, but quick on the counter.
With the way Leeds play, West Ham will get chances – the worry being that they share similar characteristics with the likes of Leicester and Crystal Palace, who beat Leeds 4-1. Leeds fans though are excited by the potential of Meslier, following the video.
