Leeds fans react as Tottenham loanee Jack Clarke hauled off at half-time

Jack Clarke was one of three players to be hooked at half-time by Marcelo Bielsa on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup as Leeds United suffered defeat on penalties to Stoke City after a 2-2 draw – and Leeds fans have reacted to his display.

The 18-year-old broke into the Leeds side last season and clocked up 25 appearances in all competitions for the Whites, in which he scored goals against Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. It saw him earn a big-money move this summer.

Indeed, Clarke moved to Tottenham Hotspur before being loaned back to Elland Road. But that loan move is now being questioned, with Clarke only making his second appearance of the season on Tuesday night.

The youngster was one of three players to be hauled off at the break, along with Jamie Shackleton and Alfie McCalmont, after Stoke went into half-time with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Danny Batth and Sam Vokes.

However, Leeds brought on Adam Forshaw, Ben White and Jack Harrison – and the changes completely altered the game. Eddie Nketiah scored his third goal for Leeds on loan from Arsenal, while Helder Costa also netted his first for Leeds.

Harrison starred for Leeds but missed his penalty – allowing Stoke to progress into the second round 5-4 on penalties. But Leeds fans were hugely disappointed by Clarke, who was a fan favourite last season following his exciting breakthrough.

Many believe he is no longer interested following his Tottenham move, while others believe the loan should be cancelled.
