Leeds fans react as Steven Gerrard comments on Rangers attacker Kemar Roofe

Kemar Roofe has been in stunning form for Rangers since his move to Ibrox from Belgian side Anderlecht and Steven Gerrard has lauded the attacker’s fitness in his latest press conference – prompting reaction from Leeds supporters.

Roofe, 27, has scored a whopping seven goals in his first 13 league and cup appearances following his £3.5million () move from Anderlecht. He has shone particularly in Europe, scoring against Standard Liege and Benfica.

The former Leeds star endured a slow start but has since overtaken Ianis Hagi in the Rangers side – forming a lethal front three with Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos. His fitness has dramatically improved, after an injury-hit season with Anderlecht.

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of Sunday’s league game against Ross County, Gerrard stated that the Rangers squad are hitting impressing fitness numbers – but that Roofe is raising the bar when it comes to fitness stats.

During his time at Leeds, Roofe was excellent – but his best season came under Marcelo Bielsa. Like many others, Roofe improved under the guidance of the Argentine gaffer, with his fitness improving, though injuries also increased.

Leeds supporters caught wind of Gerrard’s comments on Friday and many believe that Roofe topping the numbers when it comes to fitness is down to the demands that Bielsa has at Elland Road.
