Leeds fans react as Robert Snodgrass impresses for West Ham United against Liverpool

Robert Snodgrass starred for West Ham United on Monday night as the Hammers almost upset the odds against Liverpool at Anfield, before Jurgen Klopp’s side came back to win 3-2 – and Leeds fans have applauded their former winger on Twitter.

West Ham went 2-1 up in the second half through Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals and looked in a good position to keep Liverpool at bay, before Klopp’s Premier League leaders went up a gear – and secured all three points.

Liverpool took the lead early on through Georginio Wijnaldum, as he headed in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross – but £10million signing () Snodgrass was on hand to lay on an assist of his own. His outswinging cross was headed in by Issa Diop.

Fornals made it 2-1 to West Ham after the restart, but a mistake from Lukasz Fabianski saw Mo Salah equalise. Alexander-Arnold was on hand to nab his second assist of the night to secure all three points for Liverpool, handing Sadio Mane a tap-in.

West Ham, though, fought bravely and were unlucky not to have rescued even a point from the match. Snodgrass, certainly, was one of West Ham’s better players – as he took his goal involvement to 10 this season in just 24 league games.

The 32-year-old is fondly remembered by Leeds fans after he scored 41 goals and created 40 more in 187 outings for the Whites during a four-year spell between 2008 and 2012. With promotion a possibility, some even want him back at Elland Road.
