Leeds fans react as Mick McCarthy confirms he will meet with Patrick Bamford
Mick McCarthy has confirmed that he will meet with Patrick Bamford to discuss the Leeds United striker becoming an Ireland international ahead of March’s fixtures – and Leeds fans are not happy.
Bamford, 25, has been in excellent form for the Whites of late. Finally overcoming a posterior cruciate ligament injury – an injury more synonymous with car crashes – Bamford has not lost his goalscoring touch.
A brace against West Bromwich Albion during Friday night’s 4-0 win took his tally to six for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. But his form has also attracted the attention of McCarthy.
that he and Bamford have exchanged text messages and the two are set to meet up to discuss his international future. Ireland take on Gibraltar and Georgia in Euro qualifying this month.

“We’ve exchanged text messages and Patrick is keen to meet up in the coming weeks so it is just a matter of him finding a date that works – I’ll happily meet him whenever he can do it,”
Bamford faces competition from the likes of Scott Hogan, Callum Robinson and more, but his excellent form is likely to make him a strong contender to start at the end of the month.
Leeds fans are worried. With the promotion race now hotting up and only 11 league games left to play, fans are worried that adding to Bamford’s schedule will increase the risk of injury.

In before he gets injured on his debut.

Would rather keep him away from extra international games at such a crucial time of the season. Can't afford another injury upfront

Ffs leave it till end of season. Enough injuries as it is
