Leeds fans react as club reportedly rivalling London club for Gonzalo Montiel

Leeds United are reportedly rivalling West Ham United and numerous European sides in the race to sign River Plate right-back Gonzalo Montiel – and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to the news.

Montiel, 23, has been in sensational form for River Plate and despite his tender age, he has already clocked up 91 senior appearances for the Argentine giants. Not only that, but Montiel has already played four times for Argentina.

Leeds are interested in signing the right-sided flyer. It is believed they will have to splash a whopping £15million to sign Montiel – despite the right-back already entering the final 12 months of his contract.

However, Leeds are not alone in their pursuit of Montiel. West Ham are also interested and have been linked numerous times over the past few months – with the Hammers seeing Pablo Zabaleta and Jeremy Ngakia leave.

Bundesliga trio Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke are also said to be interested in signing Montiel in the coming weeks – though it is unclear on Montiel’s preferences. Marcelo Bielsa staying at Leeds could prove crucial.

Leeds supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that they are rivalling the Hammers and three Bundesliga sides to sign Montiel – and while some think he would be a good addition, others are not confident.
