Leeds fans react as club reportedly interested in signing Manchester United star
Leeds United are reportedly interested in raiding bitter rivals Manchester United for centre-back Axel Tuanzebe this summer – but Whites fans are hardly impressed on Twitter, and would rather a different centre-back signing.
Tuanzebe, 22, was part of the Aston Villa side that gained promotion via the Championship play-offs in 2018-19 – though he managed just 25 of the 46 Championship league games due to a broken foot.
He has since returned to United and made 10 senior appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season. But with Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and others ahead of him in the pecking order, a move could occur.
Leeds want to sign England Under-21 international Tuanzebe if they fail to complete a permanent move for Brighton defender Ben White in the coming months.
White has been sensational for Leeds and Eddie Gray claimed over the weekend that the Whites are doing everything they can to sign him for 2020-21, But it may not be enough.
The latest report claims Leeds will go after Tuanzebe this summer – who, like White, is a ball-playing defender that can also provide cover in holding midfield. But some Leeds fans have urged the club to sign White instead.
Others discussed the club’s lack of options at centre-back, while one fan would rather River Plate defender Lucas Martinez Quarta – who has been linked with a move to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
