Leeds fans react as club reportedly battling Aston Villa for Matty Cash

Leeds United are reportedly battling Aston Villa and other clubs in the race to sign Nottingham Forest defender Matty Cash this summer – but Leeds fans are against such a move, preferring Luke Ayling at right-back.

Cash, 23, was a crucial part of Forest’s push for the Championship play-offs last season – managing 43 appearances in the league out of a possible 46. But eventually, Sabri Lamouchi’s side finished in seventh.

The versatile ace has played out wide and in midfield in the past but Cash has made the right-back slot his own under Lamouchi. His performances have been excellent, and Premier League interest is of little surprise.

Sheffield United have placed a £10million bid for Cash, while Aston Villa, Leeds United and even AC Milan are interested in the right-sided flyer. Forest want £15million.

Leeds currently boast Ayling on the right side of their defence, but have little established cover after the departure of Gaetano Berardi. Stuart Dallas and Jamie Shackleton can play there, but they are naturally midfielders.

Leeds supporters reacted to the reported interest in Cash and while some are of the opinion that Cash is a good player, the majority do not feel Leeds need to spend an eight-figure sum on a right-back.
