Leeds fans react as Andy Hughes confirms Sheffield United exit on Twitter

Andy Hughes has sent a heartfelt message to Sheffield United this week after it was confirmed he would be leaving the Premier League side after just one season – and Leeds United supporters reacted in their drones.#

Hughes, 42, joined Sheffield United last summer to take up the role as Under-23 manager – previously impressing as Huddersfield Town’s first-team coach. He has previously coached at Rotherham, Bolton and Crystal Palace.

Hughes enjoyed a hugely successful career in the Football League with the likes of Leeds, Reading and Norwich City and more, clocking up over 500 league and cup appearances – and winning promotion four times.

The Manchester-born coach posted a message to Sheffield United fans on Twitter, thanking them for their support and wishing the club well for the future – as it was confirmed he would be departing after just one season.

A favourite at Elland Road, Hughes played in numerous positions during his 139 appearances for the Whites between 2007 and 2010. He even helped the Whites return to the Championship in 2009-10.

Leeds fans reacted to his post after leaving Sheffield United, and many have urged their former player to return to Elland Road in the coming weeks and join Marcelo Bielsa’s coaching staff in some capacity.
