Leeds fans proud as Jamie Shackleton sparkles despite England U-20 defeat
Jamie Shackleton appeared for the first time in an England shirt on Tuesday evening in the Maurice Revello Tournament – and Leeds United fans are proud of their academy product.
The 19-year-old midfielder broke into the Leeds side this season under Marcelo Bielsa last season, clocking up 24 appearances in all competitions for the Whites. He was one of the stand-out performers in the play-offs.
It saw him called up to England’s Under-20 side along with left-back Tom Pearce. He started in England’s second game of the tournament, which the Young Lions lost 3-2 despite taking the lead.

Shackleton played away from his natural position of central midfield, and shone for 76 minutes before being replaced by Reading star Danny Loader. Arsenal duo Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock scored for England.
The Leeds youth product is just one of a number of young stars to be given their debuts by Bielsa this season. Jack Clarke, Aapo Halme, Will Huffer, Leif Davis, Clarke Odour and Kun Temenuzhkov were also given a chance.
Leeds fans reacted to Shackleton’s performance for England, and many were stunned by his display for Paul Simpson’s side that saw him shine among England’s best young talent.

He’s really has. Looks ahead of the rest. The others don’t have his intensity ( Bielsa )

a very composed display and a threat when over lapping the winger….. i believe the manager should have pushed him into midfield when chasing the game rather than subbing him.
