Leeds fans love what Robin Koch has done during pre-season at Thorp Arch

Robin Koch has posted on his Instagram story, confirming that he has returned to pre-season training at Leeds United. It is quite surprising, given that Germany’s exit from Euro 2020 was just a fortnight ago. Returning early to pre-season at Leeds, fans of the Yorkshire club have praised him.

Koch, 24, endured a tricky first season at Leeds – thanks to a long-term knee injury. The Germany international picked up the problem in his debut for Leeds, a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool. He was forced to continue playing with the issue until it proved too much, during a loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Having gone under the knife, the ex-Freiburg man got himself fit enough to play in six of the last 10 Premier League matches. It was enough to see him return to the Germany fold and be included in their Euro 2020 squad. But a 2-0 loss to England saw Germany exit the tournament at the last 16 stage.

What are Leeds fans saying about Koch and his early return?

Leeds players not in action would have got six weeks off. From the last match, a win over West Brom on May 23, to a return last Thursday, the likes of Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford and Stuart Dallas would have got a month and a half to recharge. But Koch watched Germany lose just two weeks ago.

Despite that, his Instagram post [above] shows he has already return to action – missing just a few days of pre-season. Koch has impressed Leeds fans on social media, who are hoping the £46,000-a-week star ( can build on what was a difficult first season in English football.

In other Leeds news, Victor Orta has compiled a three-man shortlist to replace Kiko Casilla.
