Leeds fans hail Stuart Dallas performance against Derby

Leeds United recorded a 1-1 draw against Derby County on Saturday in the Championship – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out Stuart Dallas for special praise for his performance.

The Whites were unable to avenge the play-off semi-final defeat from last season to Derby, as they conceded a late goal to them at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side dominated the contest in Yorkshire and should have put the game out of sight, but Mateusz Klich missed a penalty in the second-half and there were other failed opportunities.

Leeds did opening the scoring the 20th minute, as the ball deflected off Derby defender Max Lowe for an own goal after a shot from Dallas.

But Chris Martin popped up in stoppage time to knick a point for the visitors.

The result means they have temporarily extended their position at the top of the Championship by just a point, but it should have been so much more.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social were hailing Dallas for his all-action display.

The 28-year-old has been converted into a right-back by Bielsa and has been thriving in that role so far this season.

He was allowed to be on the front foot for the majority of the contest against Derby and put some teasing crosses into the box, as well as being heavily involved in the Derby own goal.

The Northern Ireland international has shown in recent weeks too that he can hold his own defensively and his reputation continues to grow.
