Leeds fans discuss Ryan Edmondson after confirming Elland Road return on Instagram

Ryan Edmondson has confirmed on Instagram that he has returned to Leeds United after a half-season loan spell with Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen – and Leeds supporters have responded on Instagram to his return.

Edmondson, 19, joined Aberdeen on loan in the summer after failing to be given a chance under Marcelo Bielsa. He had managed two senior Leeds appearances before Bielsa arrived, but has failed to get an opportunity since.

He found game time much more regular at Pittodrie, clocking up 16 appearances in all competitions – facing Sporting Lisbon, Celtic and Rangers during his time under Derek McInnes’ side. However, he scored just two goals.

Both came in the same match, netting twice in a 4-2 league win over Hamilton. He also laid on two assists and while his loan could be extended, Edmondson has confirmed he has returned to Leeds with a post on Instagram.

Edmondson is out of contract in the summer and his future certainly hangs in the balance. At Leeds, he looks almost certain to fail in his chance of game time – with Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood impressing in the Under-23’s.

Leeds supporters have responded on Twitter to the news that Edmondson had returned to Yorkshire from Scottish side Aberdeen – and many feel he has the quality to make an impact as a squad player.
