Leeds fans discuss reports that Valencia might have to pay £19.5million for Costa
Reports from Spain claim this week that if Valencia want to sign Helder Costa on a permanent basis from Leeds, they will have to spend £19.5million. Leeds fans have responded to the bizarre reports, on Twitter.
Costa, 27, joined Leeds initially on loan in 2019 – helping Marcelo Bielsa’s side gain promotion to the Premier League. He remained at Elland Road for the first season in the top tier, after joining permanently from Wolves.
But after struggling to have much of an impact, and the signing of Raphinha keeping him out of the side, Costa joined Valencia. A permanent clause is believed to have been included in a deal for Costa.
Dan James has also joined since, meaning Costa would probably be fourth-choice out wide – behind Jack Harrison, too. they know how much Valencia would have to spend to sign the winger.

They, quite bizzarely, claim that Leeds want an initial fee of £17million – plus £2.5million in add-ons. Given that he was signed for £16million, and has since fallen down the pecking order – that seems unrealistic.
What are Leeds fans saying about Costa and his potential price tag?
At Valencia, Costa has started the last six La Liga matches and seven of the last eight. But in 11 appearances in all for the Spanish side, the Angola ace has failed to score – or lay on an assist.
But the report states that Costa has been in good form, only lacking the necessary numbers. Leeds fans, though, do not believe Leeds will receive a combined £19.5million fee – but would take it.
