Leeds fans celebrate as 24-year-old earns international call-up for the Euros

Leeds United’s Robin Koch has earned a call-up to the Germany squad for this summer’s Euros – and some Whites fans on Twitter have celebrated the news.

Koch has been included in Germany’s 26-man squad for the summer’s European Championships, which is a rescheduled tournament from last year.

Joachim Low’s side look like they are in a group of death alongside France, Portugal and Hungary.

Koch, 24, is one of six Premier League-based players picked in the Germany squad.

Arsenal’s Bernd Leno, Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan and the Chelsea trio of Antonio Rudiger, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner are also in the plane.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media agree Koch thoroughly deserves his spot.

The powerhouse defender has earned seven caps for his country, and Low has picked him despite the fact he did miss a chunk of this season with a knee problem.

His extra versatility to play at centre-back or as a defensive midfielder has to count in his favour.

Koch has made 17 appearances during his debut campaign at Elland Road following his transfer from Freiburg last summer. It feels likes everyone has only seen a snippet of what he can do.

He’s a composing figure in the heart of defence that is calm playing out from the back, but the fact he was sidelined through injury from mid-December to mid-March has overshadowed his first year in England.

Here are some Leeds fans though delighted with his call-up:
