Leeds fans back Spurs loanee Jack Clarke to score against Arsenal
“Clarke…one-nil”.
It was the line of commentary that defined the 1972 FA Cup final as Leeds United striker Allan Clarke got on the end of Mick Jones’s cross to score what proved to be the only goal to deny Arsenal back-to-back wins in the competition.

And it appears that plenty of Leeds fans are hopeful that David Coleman’s famous line could be uttered once again in January after the two sides were drawn together in the third round of the cup.
For many, it appears that the stage is perfectly set. The two sides who contested the centenary final will meet in the season that Leeds celebrate their 100th birthday.

And Leeds just happen to have a player called Clarke in their ranks.
Of course, it must be noted that many supporters are expecting Tottenham Hotspur to recall Jack Clarke from his loan spell at Elland Road when January arrives. He has only featured once in the Championship this term.
Instant Tottenham hero?
But perhaps the prospect of letting him face Arsenal in the FA Cup may tempt Spurs to delay a decision on the winger’s future.
Plenty of Leeds fans on social media believe that the Tottenham loanee is destined to be the man to steal the headlines against the Gunners when Marcelo Bielsa’s men travel to the Emirates.
It may not be as important as the 1972 final. But, other than securing promotion, there may not be too many better ways for Leeds to celebrate their centenary. And there certainly appears to be no better way for Clarke to make himself a hero amongst the Spurs fans before he has played for the club.
Here are some of the Leeds supporters predicting the score and match-winner on social media following the draw…
