Leeds fans are desperate to see midfielder get first PL start against Newcastle

Leeds United will be desperate to put a dismal run of just one win in their last six Premier League games behind them on Wednesday night as the Whites take on Newcastle United – and fans want a midfielder to get his first ever Premier League start.

The Whites have struggled of late. Two successive losses to Chelsea and West Ham have shown up a big weakness in the side – in the form of set-pieces. Three of the five goals conceded in those matches were from set-plays.

Leeds have lost Robin Koch and Diego Llorente to injury, while facing sides that like to play on the counter has also proved tricky for Marcelo Bielsa’s men. Unlike the West Ham game, he has not named his side in the pre-match press conference.

Certainly, some changes could be made with Bielsa’s side struggling. One player that has impressed off the bench is 20-year-old Ian Poveda, and he could be in line for a chance out wide if the Argentine gaffer does decide to freshen things up.

Poveda has made seven Premier League appearances this season, but all have come from the bench. The £9k-a-week () wide man has been overlooked for Jack Harrison, Raphinha and Helder Costa this season.

But against Newcastle, Leeds fans want a change and some feel that Poveda deserves to be included from the start over Manchester City loanee Harrison. If so, it would be Poveda’s first ever start in the Premier League.
