Leeds fans and Ben White react to Jack Clarke’s Tottenham Hotspur debut
Jack Clarke made his debut for Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night as he came off the bench to replace Carlos Vinicius, more than 12 months after initially joining Spurs – and both Leeds fans and Ben White have reacted on social media.
Clarke, 19, joined Tottenham last summer from Leeds for a fee believed to be in the region of £10million () – after Clarke had a hand in four goals during 25 Leeds games. He returned to Leeds after his move to Spurs on loan, but he struggled.
Just three appearances followed and it saw Spurs cancel his Leeds loan and move him to QPR – but he clocked up just seven appearances for Mark Warburton’s outfit. However, it is believed Clarke has impressed in training at Spurs.
Indeed, he scored in a Premier League 2 clash as Tottenham beat Southampton earlier this month – and now, the attacker has made his debut. He posted on Instagram, though he should have been celebrating a goal, too.
A cross from the right flank found its way to England youth international Clarke, who controlled the ball superbly and had the chance to curl the ball into the far corner from 12 yards. However, his shot whistled past the post, to the despair of Clarke.
Leeds fans applauded the young winger who is another example of the Yorkshire side’s highly-rated academy system – as did numerous Leeds players and Ben White on his Instagram post. Pascal Struijk also gave his verdict.
Marcelo Bielsa said in 2019,, that “every time he plays, he makes a difference.”
