Leeds eyeing striker Jurgen Klinsmann once said ‘changed the entire game’

Leeds United are one of several Championship clubs reportedly eyeing Bournemouth’s Kieffer Moore this month.

The Whites may not be in desperate need of a new striker, but this hasn’t stopped speculation linking the Wales international with Elland Road.

According to , Leeds are aware of the fact Bournemouth are ready to part company with Moore in the January transfer window.

As well as the Whites, the likes of Cardiff, Ipswich, West Brom, Sunderland and Middlesbrough are said to be eyeing the 31-year-old as well.

Cardiff, Leeds’ next Championship opponents, are apparently ‘pushing hardest’ for Moore, but Leeds are nonetheless on alert regarding his situation.

Leeds United target Kieffer Moore has earned praise from Jurgen Klinsmann

Moore is an experienced striker with considerable experience at a high level. The 6ft 5in powerhouse has made 343 club appearances during his career and has also won 39 caps for Wales.

Of his club outings, 34 have come in the Premier League, and 155 have come in the Championship, as per . Needless to say, he knows his way around the second tier.

Moore has earned plaudits from the likes of Jurgen Klinsmann, who deemed him a game-changer in the 2022 World Cup encounter with the United States.

Speaking on – via – he said: “There are still really good number nines around the world. It was a development over the last 15 years.

“It all started with Spain, when they suddenly put Fernando Torres on the bench and played only false number nine’s with all these attacking players moving around. It came all through the Spanish influence, basically.

“I’m just a big defender of number nines, and I hope that this World Cup maybe proves it. I think it will.

“Coaches will pull out the number nines in the second half, like Wales did, throwing in Moore in the second half. It changed the entire game against the United States and made it possible.

“Denmark came last 25 minutes with a real number nine, threw him up there and almost won the game against a very good Tunisian side. Maybe it’s the rebirth of the number nine and we get even more of them.”

Do Leeds United really need Kieffer Moore?

While there’s no doubting that Moore is a quality striker who’d do a great job in the Championship, is he a player that Leeds really need?

If Whites boss Daniel Farke continues to line up with Georginio Rutter at No. 10, then someone who can run in behind would be a better fit.

Patrick Bamford does this, so if Leeds really did think about reinforcing their attack, then someone of similar profile to him would be a better shout than someone with Moore’s profile.
