Report: Leeds could now sign ‘fantastic’ £15m forward in January with Bamford struggling

Leeds United could make a move for a new forward in January as Patrick Bamford continues to struggle, with Che Adams among the targets.

reports how Leeds could go into the market to bring a striker in. It comes as Jesse Marsch admitted that Patrick Bamford remains a doubt due to injury and fitness issues. And according to the , Southampton’s Adams could be one the Whites go for.

Adams has been a shining light for a struggling Saints side at times. Since making a £15m move from Birmingham, Adams has proven to be quite a capable Premier League striker.

Of course, his story is well known in terms of getting to the top. He signed for Sheffield United from non-league Ilkeston Town before scoring twice against Tottenham in a league cup semi-final to catch the eye.

Leeds have had Adams on their radar for some time now. He was said to be a target in the summer but nothing came of that apparent interest.

Lauded as ‘‘ by former boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, Adams would bring energy and power to the Leeds frontline.

One worry for Leeds, though, would be his goals record. Adams has yet to hit double figures in a PL season since arriving on the south coast.

TBR’s View: Adams brings energy but not goals for Leeds

It’s always going to be hard to find a top goalscorer in January. Especially for a club like Leeds, who quite simply don’t have huge sums to go splashing on anyone they want.

In Che Adams, they’d be getting a busy and hard working player who could contribute. However, his goalscoring record isn’t exactly brilliant and there’s a danger he becomes just another player at Elland Road.

Of course, the potential is there and a switch could ignite his career. And Leeds do need a focal point for their tricky wide players to play off, so Adams could well fit the bill.
