Leeds closer to Gnonto deal; personal terms now agreed – journalist
Journalist Nicolo Schira has reported that Leeds United are getting closer and closer to agreeing a deal for Wilfried Gnonto, with personal terms now sorted.
Leeds fans are crying out for the club to sign another forward before the window shuts. Patrick Bamford limped off during the early stages of Saturday’s draw with Southampton, evoking memories of his struggles last season.

Reports this week suggested that Leeds were keen on the 18-year-old. It was reported that the Whites could offer up to £4.2 million for the teenager.
And it seems that the situation is moving rapidly. According to Schira, Leeds have now agreed personal terms with Gnonto. The versatile forward is ready to sign a deal at Elland Road which would run until 2027.

Meanwhile, Leeds remain in talks with FC Zurich over a fee for the Italy international…

Leeds getting closer to Gnonto deal
The club deserve praise if indeed they are closing in on a deal for Gnonto. After the victory against Wolves, they would have been forgiven for thinking that the current squad may be capable of getting through the campaign.
But the draw on the south coast brought the side back down to earth. Obviously, Rodrigo is off to a flyer at the start of this season. But Bamford and Joe Gelhardt are both now dealing with knocks.
Gnonto is not the proven goalscorer some would have hoped for. He is at his best as a second striker and can play on either wing. But he is an exciting addition. Roberto Mancini recently said that he is so quick and ‘‘.
Leeds are in a tricky position, trying to sign someone capable of filling in for Bamford. Those players may have reservations about joining in case they end up being second-choice.
But Gnonto is seemingly ready to make the move. It will be interesting to see what happens in the days ahead.
