Leeds attacker Jack Clarke has pressure on him against Stoke

With five games gone into the new Championship season, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has given quite a clear indication over his favourite XI and which members of the squad still have plenty of work to do.

The Whites sit top of the league as it stands unbeaten and fans are hoping this is the year they can finally book a return to the top-flight.

Leeds also cruised past Salford City in the Carabao Cup and host Stoke City in the second round of the competition on Tuesday night.

The Yorkshire giants beat Championship opposition Stoke 3-0 away at the weekend and they will now lock horns at Elland Road in the cup.

It seems likely that Bielsa could make some rotations to his team in the cup, which may give some fringe players the chance to impress.

Jack Clarke is someone that should be raising his hand up for a recall and there is huge pressure on his young shoulders to deliver if he is handed the opportunity against Stoke.

The 18-year-old was sold to Tottenham in the summer by Leeds, but returned immediately on a season-long loan to help his development.

But so far his only action this season came in the cup against Salford, while he’s yet to play a single minute of league action.

The dazzling right-winger was an unused substitute in the first two matches of the season against Bristol City and Nottingham Forest, but has been completed omitted from the match day squad since.

Clarke has to hope he gets the chance against Stoke, where he needs to force Bielsa into giving him more minutes by impressing in attack.

He is capable of terrorising full-backs with his pace and trickery, so should be confident of tearing through a Stoke outfit out of form.

The wide man may still be just a teenager at the beginning of his career, but there is pressure on him now to try make an impact in the Leeds first-team and he knows parent club Spurs will be watching with intrigue.
