Leeds are reportedly on verge of signing ‘devastatingly effective’ player, fans should be thrilled – TBR View

Leeds United have done superbly in the summer transfer window so far.

And it looks as though the Whites will soon have two new players through the Elland Road door.

On Wednesday morning, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Leeds’ pursuit of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra.

Adams has reportedly completed his Leeds medical, with an official statement following this week.

“Then… Sinisterra,” added Romano. “Here we go confirmed.”

Leeds have already parted company with Kalvin Phillips, while Raphinha also looks set to leave Elland Road.

But in Adams and Sinisterra, the Whites are now closing in on their replacements.

Great transfer business from the Leeds hierarchy and manager Jesse Marsch.

Sinisterra style of play

While Leeds will no doubt miss Raphinha, Sinisterra will be a superb replacement for the Brazilian.

The 23-year-old has made a name for himself at Feyenoord and enjoyed a superb season last time out.

Sinisterra registered a staggering 23 goals and 14 assists from 49 club appearances in 2021-22.

He also has five Colombia caps to his name and will no doubt start adding to them more quickly in the coming years.

Leeds are reportedly paying just €25m (£21.4m) with add-ons for Sinisterra – a bargain for such a talented young star.

In May, deemed Sinisterra ‘explosive’ and said he had ‘the world at his feet’.

‘Sinisterra is a tricky customer who operates primarily on the left wing,’ they wrote. ‘Cutting inside onto his favoured right foot.

‘He very often receives the ball just inside the opponent’s half and then drives into space to push his team forward.

‘His speed, dribbling ability (successful in 60.2% of his dribbles this season) and quick feet mean that his teammates often utilise him as a ball carrier.

‘The winger has been at the heart of everything good for Feyenoord this season.

‘His improvement under Arne Slot has been exceptional and his creative output has become fundamental to the team.’

Meanwhile, described Sinisterra as a ‘devastatingly effective goal scoring outlet’.

They wrote: ‘While it would be easy to call Luis a ‘tricky winger’ given his explosive dribbling ability, it is likely more accurate to call him a ‘creative inside forward’.

‘When at his best, the Colombian attacks defenders one-on-one at the edge of the box, either to drive to the byline for a cutback on the ground or to cut inside for a shot.

‘His strength is in leveraging his top-end explosiveness over short distances to beat defenders and break down exposed defensive lines.

‘This naturally makes him a threat in transition: it would not be a stretch to call the Colombian one of the most dangerous players on the counter-attack in Dutch football.’
