Leeds and Celtic players send heartfelt messages to Callum Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi has suffered a ruptured achilles which will require surgery, keeping the Chelsea attacker out until the 2019-20 campaign – and he has been inundated with messages of support.

The 18-year-old managed just 41 minutes of Chelsea’s 2-2 draw at Burnley, before pulling up and being taken off. He has managed 24 appearances for the Blues this season, scoring five goals and creating five more.

It is a blow for Hudson-Odoi, who has since broken into the England squad under Gareth Southgate and earned two caps. Rejecting a move to Bayern Munich, Hudson-Odoi had the world at his feet before the injury.

Leeds United’s on-loan Chelsea star Izzy Brown and Celtic’s on-loan Paris Saint-Germain Timothy Weah reacted to Hudson-Odoi’s injury, sending their best wishes to the youngster.

TBR’s view

Hudson Odoi’s blow comes at the worst time. The potential move to Bayern could have been back on the cards this summer, but that is now having to be shelved. Chelsea value Hudson-Odoi at £43million.

It is down to the player to go through rehabilitation correctly, and regain the interest from Bayern by playing regularly and shining like he has done for Chelsea – but it is a big ask.
