Lee Dixon urges Arsenal to sign £60m Premier League player, ahead of January

Lee Dixon has told Arsenal to sign Everton and England striker Dom Calvert-Lewin ahead of the January window. The Gunners are likely to be in the market for a striker soon, and have been linked with the forward.

Calvert-Lewin, 24, has taken his game to a new level over the past 18 months. Last season, he scored 21 goals in 39 games – also laying on five assists. This season, he has scored three goals in three games, before injury.

at the beginning of the month that Arsenal want to sign Calvert-Lewin from Everton – even with his huge £60million. That is, with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being linked with a move.

Lacazette is out of contract at the end of the season, and does not look as if he will be penning a new deal. Aubameyang has been ostracised for the last four games, after being stripped of the captaincy.

Asked if he would take Everton star Calvert-Lewin at Arsenal, Gunners icon Dixon has urged his old club to sign the Toffees ace – . He believes Arsenal will be unable to convince Erling Haaland.

“Would I like to see Calvert-Lewin at Arsenal? Yes. You’d struggle to get one of the top, top strikers like Haaland,” Dixon said. “It would be a step up for Calvert-Lewin, no disrespect to Everton.

“I like him, I think he’s got potential to be as good as he wants to be. He is fit and athletic, he is strong and good in the air and a good finisher. I would take him.”

Dixon on Calvert-Lewin: Everton star fits Arsenal approach under Edu

Calvert-Lewin is a brilliant player. He is widely regarded as England’s second-best striker behind Harry Kane. Indeed, he is already outgrowing an Everton side that look as if they will struggle to finish in the top half.

Arsenal spent big on players from smaller clubs between the ages of 20 and 25. Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Albert Lokonga. Calvert-Lewin adheres to that approach.
