Lee Dixon says Arsenal have an ‘outstanding’ player who’s getting better and better

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has been praised by Gunners cult hero Lee Dixon for the “absolutely outstanding” season he’s having.

Dixon, speaking on , says the Arsenal summer signing “seems to get better” with each game he gets under his belt.

Rice has been an absolute revelation for Arsenal since arriving at the Emirates Stadium from West Ham in a £105million deal.

The 25-year-old has improved the Gunners’ midfield – indeed, the whole team – massively. And now, he’s chipping in with goals and assists too.

Rice has registered six goals and seven assists for Arsenal this season. Three of his goals and four assists have come in his last five Premier League games.

Dixon is loving what he’s been seeing from the Gunners ace, saying: “He’s having an absolutely outstanding season.

“Every game I watch him play, he seems to get better and understand his position a little bit better.

“When he first got into the England side, he always seemed to miss players running off the back of him.

“The fact that he’s now understanding where he should be, the amount of interceptions and last-minute tackles on players going into that ’10 area’ is absolutely outstanding.”

Declan Rice a revelation for Arsenal

When a player moves for big money, as was the case with Rice to Arsenal, it doesn’t take long for critics to get on his case if he doesn’t do superbly from the off.

While some players have needed a bit of time to get up to speed, Rice hit the ground running from the off and is only getting better and better for the Gunners.

Indeed, it’s getting to the point where Arsenal will probably feel they’ve got a bargain in Rice – at all of £105million – considering how good he has been.

Rice has been pretty much flawless for the Gunners so far, and it’s especially great to see him showcase his versatility and add goals to his came.
