Forgotten Wolves signing could face even longer wait for full debut

Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a solid start to life back in the Premier League.

Five games in, the Midlands outfit sit ninth in the table and are rubbing shoulders with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton.

Part of the reason for Wolves’ fantastic start is the solid defensive backline consisting of Willy Boly, Conor Coady and Ryan Bennett.

The trio have been extremely resolute and appear to knows each others’ games inside and out.

The newly-promoted club have conceded just five goals so far.

That is the joint-fourth best record in the division.

Wolves were known in the Championship for playing exciting attacking football, but Nuno Espirito Santo appears to have significantly improved his side defensively over the summer in preparation for the Premier League.

Where is Dendoncker?

Eyebrows were raised when Wolves completed the summer loan signing of Leander Dendoncker from Anderlecht.

The Belgian international, who went to last summer’s World Cup, was highly coveted but opted to move to the Black Country.

The move was seen as a great coup at the time.

One month on though and he’s only made one Carabao Cup appearance.

He has failed to make a single Premier League matchday squad so far.

Some are speculating that he is perhaps still acclimatising to his new club and English football.

It wouldn’t appear that the player is struggling with any kind of injury.

He must wait for full debut

Whatever the reason the 23-year-old isn’t playing at the moment, it’s difficult to see how he’ll get into the team when he is deemed ‘ready’.

Boly, Coady and Bennett have been a well-oiled unit at the back.

Dendoncker is a fine footballer and his time will come eventually.

Right now though, it’s difficult to see him making his full debut any time soon.
