Laurens claims Arsenal ready to join race for Tottenham-linked Champions League captain
that Arsenal are interested in signing RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer, amid reports Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the 26-year-old midfielder.
Sabitzer has been excellent over the past couple of seasons for Leipzig, and now boasts stats that have seen him surpass 200 appearances for Leipzig. In his 204 games for the ambitious Champions League outfit, he has scored 46 and created 38.
The claim Tottenham are interested in signing the £45m-rated star and have been looking at Sabitzer for some time. Now, Arsenal could rival Spurs for the 44-time Austria international who continues to score goals and create.
French journalist Laurens told his podcast that there are numerous English sides looking at Sabitzer, and that Arsenal are one of those, ahead of the January window. Certainly, The Gunners need a playmaker with Mesut Ozil on the sidelines.
“There is another club [interested in Sabitzer], I think Arsenal are very keen as well. I think there’s a few English clubs. He would be a great signing, potentially quite cheap as well for the kind of player that you’re getting. It’s a no-brainer,”

TBR’s view – Arsenal need Sabitzer more than Tottenham
The Gunners lack a number 10. Ozil being ushered out of the side has opened up a gap in attacking midfield, in which Emile Smith-Rowe has impressed during the last couple of matches. Spurs, meanwhile, are well equipped.
Gio Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele continue to rotate – leaving Dele Alli on the sidelines. Adding Sabitzer into the equation would see Spurs sign a player that they do not need, but of course would improve them given the quality of the player.
Arsenal need him more, and at £45million, he is a no-brainer for the Gunners – as Laurens states.
