Laura Woods says 28-year-old defender who left Arsenal last year was absolutely rapid
TNT Sports presenter and Arsenal fan Laura Woods has raved about Gunners old-boy Hector Bellerin’s speed.
The Emirates Stadium has been home to some of the fastest players in the Premier League over the years. From Thierry Henry and Theo Walcott to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gabriel Martinelli, we’ve seen some real speedsters. Bellerin was up there with the quickest.

Arsenal fan Laura Woods hails Hector Bellerin’s pace
Hector Bellerin spent over a decade as an Arsenal player.
The Spaniard joined the Gunners when he was a teenager back in 2011. He left Barcelona to join Arsene Wenger‘s side and quickly became a fan favourite after his debut.
Bellerin played 239 games for Arsenal and helped them win three FA Cups and three Community Shield titles. He was a fantastic player on his day, and speed was his biggest asset.
The right-back was absolutely rapid in his prime. Nobody could catch him in a foot race, and that was key when he was the first choice at the Emirates.
Laura Woods was asked to build her perfect Arsenal footballer based on different traits like right foot, left foot, speed, strength and football IQ.
When speed was the question, she told : “I’m going to go Hector Bellerin.
“Before his injuries, I’m not even joking, I think he was the fastest footballer in FIFA, in terms of FIFA stats.”

Injury ruined Hector Bellerin’s Arsenal career
Hector Bellerin had the potential to become one of the best right-backs in the world, but a serious knee injury really cost him his Arsenal career.
In January 2019, during a game against Chelsea that the Gunners won 2-0, the Spaniard damaged his ACL. His season was over that day and he had to undergo surgery.
Bellerin was out for eight months and only returned to action in September. He had a number of good games, but he just didn’t look the same player that he was before the injury.
The 28-year-old’s career has gone downhill since leaving Arsenal last year. After difficult stints at Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon, Bellerin joined Real Betis in the summer. Hopefully, he can find his best form there.
