Laura Woods says £120,000-a-week Arsenal star is her favourite player now
TalkSPORT presenter and Arsenal fan Laura Woods has claimed that Granit Xhaka is her favourite footballer.
The Swiss international joined the Gunners from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2016. He has had his ups and downs in an Arsenal shirt over the years, but his comeback has been truly sensational.
After hearing rumours linking Xhaka with a move away from Arsenal, Woods has come out and claimed on that she would be gutted if her favourite player ended up leaving the club this summer.

Laura Woods says Granit Xhaka is her favourite player now
reported this week that Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are desperate to sign Granit Xhaka from Arsenal this summer after the incredible season he has had at the Emirates.
German outlet then claimed that Arsenal are ready to let him go for just £13 million.
Laura Woods isn’t too happy about this rumour. She says she understands if Xhaka wants to leave in search of regular football because Arsenal are set to sign either Declan Rice or Moises Caicedo or both.
But even then, she thinks there’s still a lot that Xhaka can offer for Arsenal.
Woods said: “I wouldn’t want to lose him.
“If they’re Champions League next season and they need a little bit more depth in the team, and you’ve got Granit Xhaka who is like the unofficial captain in so many ways and I think is a bit of a glue with a lot of the youngsters and the new players coming in, I really wouldn’t want to lose him.
“I understand if he wants to move and play first-team football consistently – if you’re bringing him Declan Rice or Moises Caicedo, that might edge him out a little bit. I understand and you wouldn’t want to stop him from doing that. But I think he’s got so much more of his Arsenal career still to live out.
“I adore him. He has been my favourite player since the whole revival of Granit Xhaka. I just love him and I’d be gutted to see him leave.”
TBR View:
It really would be a shame to see Xhaka leave Arsenal this summer.
The Swiss international hadn’t been able to help the Gunners qualify for the Champions League in his first six seasons at the club. Finally, this season, he has done it, and it would be really sad for Arsenal fans to see him leave before playing in Europe’s elite club competition next season.
Xhaka will enter the final year of his £120,000-a-week () contract this summer, but Arsenal have the option to extend it by another 12 months. It does make a little sense to let go of him to make room for players like Rice and Caicedo, but keeping him for another year is a lot more sensible in our opinion.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Xhaka in the next three months.
