Kyle Walker shares what Kieran Trippier told him about playing for Newcastle

Kyle Walker has shared what Kieran Trippier has told him about Newcastle and what it is like to be in the city when the Magpies are doing well.

Newcastle fans have certainly been put through a rollercoaster of emotions over the last few years. Of course, for many seasons, the Toon Army had reluctantly accepted that the only trophy they were going to seriously challenge for was the Championship title.

Things are very different at St James’ Park these days however, with Eddie Howe’s men almost underwhelmed with a seventh place finish in the Premier League, in a campaign where injuries decimated their squad.

Kieran Trippier has almost had a taste of both Newcastles, having arrived on Tyneside when the club were in serious danger of being relegated again.

“They are two massive clubs up there. Me and Tripps go back a long way. He just says the city when you are doing well, it’s incredible,” he said. “He compared it to Napoli. Once you are doing well in that city, you probably eat for free!”

Magpies off to a promising start in summer transfer window

Newcastle are looking to bounce back from a tougher season this past year, but clearly, there is so much to be positive about, .

They are also closing in on signing one Premier League player, with Newcastle expecting to sign Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer as his Bournemouth contract runs down.

Newcastle have not exactly been able to splash the cash in the manner many expected when the new owners came in, so adding Kelly to their ranks could be a shrewd piece of business, enabling the Magpies to focus more of their budget on the other areas of the squad.
