Kyle Walker says £40m defender Arsenal are ready to make summer bid for is ‘the best he’s ever seen’
Kyle Walker has suggested that a player Arsenal are now preparing to make a move for this summer is technically the best player he has ever seen in his position.
It is going to be fascinating to see what business the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City do this summer. Of course, the Premier League title race this season is threatening to go right down to the wire.
Mikel Arteta and Edu have built a squad which includes so many players still yet to reach their peaks. That did mean that it was not necessarily essential that the Gunners signed anyone in January when it appeared that they did not have huge amounts to spend.
But it does appear that they are making plans to strengthen at the end of the season. In fact, reports from the weekend suggested that Arsenal are looking to sign another Manchester City player following the deals for Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Kyle Walker amazed by Arsenal summer target
Arsenal are ready to make a move for Joao Cancelo should Barcelona fail to take up the £40 million option to sign the Portuguese permanently. And Cancelo may be open to making the move to the Emirates.

Joao Cancelo was mentioned to Kyle Walker during an interview on – and Arsenal fans may love what the Englishman had to say about his City teammate.
“He’s one I should have definitely mentioned in the right-backs. Technically, he’s the best I’ve ever seen. Ever seen. Inside, outside, he controls the ball, his dribbling,” he said.
Another inspired move from the Gunners?
It is not yet clear what Manchester City would demand if Arsenal came calling for Cancelo. Perhaps they may have greater reservations than when they sold Jesus and Zinchenko because the Gunners are now title contenders.
But if they could strike a deal for around £40 million, that could be a great piece of business. He is 29 now, so he would be one of the older members of the Arsenal squad.
However, it is clear what having someone like Jorginho has done for Arsenal. He appears to bring a calm on and off the pitch which has made his transfer a masterstroke.
Cancelo can play in both full-back roles. And he has proven himself in the Premier League and the Champions League.
Clearly, Kyle Walker would be slightly concerned if Cancelo ended up at the Emirates this summer.
