Kyle Lafferty believes that Ryan Kent’s return to Rangers is a significant one and feels he could even swing the title towards Ibrox this season.
The Gers confirmed on Monday that they have signed the winger from Liverpool on a permanent basis.
He spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan with the Light Blues and became a fan favourite, so they will be even more delighted he’s now returned full-time.
Kent has cost the Scottish outfit £7million () and will be hoping he can recreate form from last season, where he was directly involved in 15 goals in 43 games across all competitions
The 22-year-old left-winger is a tremendous attacking threat that torments full-backs with his pace and trickery in wide areas.
Lafferty, who had two spells as a player with Rangers and was a teammate of Kent last season, feels that he’s a huge signing in terms of a title bid.
“It’s crazy to think he’s back. This is the biggest and most significant signing of the season,”
“It’s about how he takes the ball, how he runs with it and I’ve seen him absolutely destroy defenders. He can do that even with three or four defenders around him.
“If Ryan comes back to Ibrox and does what he did last season I believe Rangers would then be favourites to win the league, regardless of the Old Firm defeat on Sunday.
“To sign someone of his quality has ensured the odds for winning the title have now turned in their favour.”
TBR’s View:
Rangers suffered a crushing defeat at home to Celtic at the weekend and it was a nightmare scenario to endure just before the international break.
But the arrival of Kent has to lift spirits and he will make the team stronger on the pitch.
With his path into the Liverpool side blocked at Anfield, it made sense to leave on a permanent basis and he definitely found a home at Ibrox last season after become a major hit with supporters.
The exciting wide player catches the eye with his direct style of play and he showed what he can bring to the Gers attack.
It seems a bit far-fetched to suggest Kent will tip the title in favour of Rangers, as their 2-0 home loss to Celtic was a reality check and there is still plenty of work to be done by the entire team.
