Kris Commons hammers two Celtic players in defeat against Rangers

Kris Commons has told his Daily Mail column – – that Celtic players Odsonne Edouard and Kris Ajer are the behind Celtic’s poor form and issues on the pitch, questioning their attitude as they continue to be linked with the exit door.

Celtic suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Rangers on Sunday afternoon at Ibrox as Steven Gerrard’s men continued their chase of an unbeaten league campaign. Following Sunday’s win, Rangers are now just two games away from going without defeat.

Kemar Roofe enjoyed one of his best days in a Rangers shirt since joining the club from Anderlecht, scoring an excellent brace while Alfredo Morelos nutmegged Scott Brown and lashed home an effort past Scott Bain. Jermain Defoe got a late fourth.

Celtic icon Commons explained how he believes it is the attitude of two of Celtic’s biggest players that let John Kennedy’s side down on Sunday, claiming that they have set their own agendas and wanting to leave has impacted their form on the pitch.

“When Lennon left, some people expected an improvement in the attitude and performances of players such as Odsonne Edouard and Kris Ajer. But it’s abundantly clear now that Lennon wasn’t the problem,” Commons claimed.

“The problem lies squarely with these players who have their own agendas and have prioritised them ahead of the club. Celtic felt compelled to hold on to a select few players who were already plotting their own exit.

“As soon as a player expresses a desire to leave, the club should be phoning them a taxi. These players felt like they were doing Celtic a favour by hanging around. They have lost all motivation. The club and the supporters who have suffered for it.”

TBR’s view – Commons is right, Ajer and Edouard the root of the problem

Commons has become renowned in Scottish media for his outbursts, and his staunch defence of Neil Lennon and Celtic. Here, he does just that but labels the likes of Edouard and Ajer as something un-Celtic like. To be fair to him, he is right.

Edouard’s attitude has been an issue that has somewhat been left unresolved all season. He looks as if he does not care, and he certainly will be sold this summer. Ajer’s agent stated he wanted a move last summer, and a move to England is on the cards.

With that in your head, losing to one of your biggest rivals does not seem so bad – especially when there is nothing to play for. Had their attitude been different this season, there might’ve been something to play for on Sunday.
